Spending your summer vacation at home doesn't have to be boring. Most of the adventure of a vacation comes from seeing and doing things you don't usually do, rather than from the travel itself. This means that if you make a point of breaking your usual routine, you can get just as refreshed as if you traveled. Here are some easy ways to spice up your summer staycation.
Many people reserve these cultural activities for when they're in unfamiliar cities. Break with that habit and go into the cultural institutions you might otherwise drive by. You may be pleasantly surprised by what's inside those buildings!
When you're exploring a new area, tasting the local food can be a high point. Yet, at home, many people go to the same restaurants they've been going to for years. Make a point of finding the latest new restaurants near home during your staycation. They'll offer the same newness as eateries hundreds of miles away.
One of the best things about staying in a motel is that you don't have to clean it. Housekeeping staff comes in, empties the trash cans, wipes down the surfaces, vacuums, and even makes your bed. There are many services that will do these things in your residence! Have one come out and serve you for the ultimate staycation. Even if daily visits aren't in the budget, one visit per week will be a luxury that gives you that "on vacation" feeling.
This summer, we are running a campaign to highlight our residents and their summer adventures. Post pictures of yours under the hashtag #HighMarkSummerChill to let everyone see what local adventures you had. Of course, you can see what other participants did by searching the same hashtag.
